Air Tightness Testing

Midland Air Testing Ltd is fully accredited with ATTMA we specialise in carrying out Air Pressure Testing on dwellings and small commercial buildings.

We are an independent Midlands based company and operate within a 150 mile radius.

We carry out Air testing to meet the requirements of Part L1A of Building Regulations. Our service includes a pre air test check list at the early stages of a build and practical advice and support throughout. A pre air test site visit can be arranged if required, which will help in achieving better air test results.

ATTMA registration means we can test all types of buildings including;

Residential houses, small commercial and non domestic buildings

We have tested hundreds of properties, with varying Design Air Permeability Rates. Providing free advice, to help you get the best result first time around. Providing a reliable, efficient response when time is of the essence.

What is Air Tightness Testing

Air Tightness Testing (also referred to as Air Permeability Testing) is a requirement of Part L1A & L2A of the Building Regulations for newly built Domestic and Commercial Buildings. Air Tightness Testing measures the amount of uncontrolled air flow (also known as air leakage) within a building as a result of unsealed gaps or cracks within the thermal envelope.

Building Regulations details a maximum permitted threshold for the air pressure test of 10 m3.h/m2. This generous air leakage rate is superseded by a target value detailed in the SAP Calculation (Domestic) as a result of the measure air leakage rate having a direct impact on carbon emissions.

Air Tightness Testing equipment ranges from a small single fan system used for testing residential units to a large multifan systems for testing large commercial or non-domestic buildings.
